Overview

In-house Legal Counsel for a FTSE-listed London property business. You will advise on corporate, commercial and governance matters, supporting the Company Secretary and Board. You’ll shape legal strategy, manage risk, and ensure robust governance across a growing portfolio of flexible workspace assets. The role combines practical contract review, data protection oversight, training, and liaison with external advisers. A high-impact position that anchors governance and compliance across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive legal input across corporate, commercial and compliance matters
  • Oversee data protection policies, DPIAs/LIAs, data processor arrangements, breaches and rights requests
  • Manage contract review processes, signing authority, risk assessment of agreements, and template creation
  • Lead legal risk management and maintain Regulatory Risk Register; support 2024 UK Corporate Governance Code provisions
  • Support Company Secretary with Board secretariat duties, governance reporting and AGM/compliance
  • Coordinate with external advisers, brokers and share scheme administrators; manage external counsel relationships
  • Develop and train stakeholders on policies and procedures; ensure timely regulatory filings
  • Contribute to ESG initiatives and governance sections of annual reporting

Key requirements

  • England & Wales qualified solicitor
  • Significant in-house experience; FTSE-listed environment preferred
  • Broad expertise in corporate and commercial law
  • Governance and company secretarial experience
  • Strong commercial acumen, attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to multitask and balance risk with business needs
  • UK work authorisation to live and work in the UK
