Overview

In this role, you counsel AWS on sustainability, ESG, and product safety compliance across hardware, data centers, and global operations. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams—sustainability, supply chain, engineering, product compliance, and operations—to navigate evolving regulations and craft scalable ESG solutions. You’ll influence regulatory strategy, support ESG reporting, and help deploy compliant hardware and services at scale. The role combines legal advisory with strategic program development in a fast-paced, global tech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel on sustainability, hardware product compliance, and related regulatory matters in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
  • Advise on global regulations related to sustainability reporting and hardware products’ lifecycle (manufacture, sale, distribution, use, handling, disposition)
  • Develop scalable ESG contracting and compliance solutions
  • Research evolving regulatory landscapes and clearly communicate implications to business stakeholders
  • Support regulatory engagements and provide strategic input on legal and business decisions
  • Manage multiple complex legal matters with precision and creativity

Key requirements

  • License to practice law in Europe, US, or other common law jurisdiction
  • Minimum 5+ years post-qualification experience
  • Experience providing legal counsel for sustainability, hardware product compliance, environmental, or similar regulatory matters
  • Experience with global sustainability reporting regulations and hardware/chemicals regulation
  • Ability to navigate bespoke provisions within transactions
  • Independent work capability with decisive legal recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
