Hours

37.5 hours (5 days out of 7) fully flexible 8:55am – 5:05pm trading over 7 days

This is a pivotal role within the retail function at St Giles Hospice, responsible for driving performance and consistency across a portfolio of shops. You will ensure each location is commercially strong, operationally sound, and delivering a high quality experience for both customers and supporters.

You will lead on income growth through effective stock generation, strong merchandising, and clear performance management, while maintaining high standards of compliance and health and safety. Through your leadership, you will build capable, confident teams who are focused on delivering results and representing the hospice with pride.

With a proactive and forward thinking mindset, you will identify opportunities to strengthen the retail offer, support new ideas, and contribute to the continued growth of the operation. Your work will play a direct role in increasing the income that enables St Giles Hospice to support more people across the community.

The estate includes 26 shops and e-commerce operation with a turnover of approx. £3.5million which supports the overall income generation strategy.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2 in Retail or Customer Service or evidence of similar training

Knowledge and experience

  • At least 1 years’ experience relevant to the role
  • A proven ability to work within a team
  • Has a good understanding of legal and H&S
  • Proven track record of delivering commercial results
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi task and prioritise
  • Data analysis and problem solving
  • Operational and compliance knowledge

    Professional Development

    All staff complete a comprehensive induction programme which includes statutory and mandatory e-learning as well as training that is tailored to the individual’s need. All staff and volunteers should also attend an induction day.
