Alongside this it runs a thriving adult and junior members club and offers corporate team-building offsites – in all reaching over 2,000 participants per year. They are looking for an ambitious, values-led leader with strong strategic, commercial and operational capability to lead the next phase of FRBC, building on strong growth in social impact and financial performance over the past 3 years.

About FRBC

Fulham Reach Boat Club (FRBC) is a registered charity using rowing as a force for lasting social change. Established in 2014, FRBC has pioneered a model of inclusive community sport that brings together young people, adults, people with disabilities and those in the criminal justice system.

Based on the Thames at Fulham Reach, they combine a vibrant adult and junior rowing community with their four charity programmes:

  • Youth Development – providing rowing programmes to state secondary and alternative provision schools, Free Water Sport Weeks in school holidays for those on ‘pupil premium’, and a Junior squad with bursary places. We also launched the ‘Youth Boat Race’ in partnership with the Oxford & Cambridge Rowing Foundation.
  • Accessible Rowing – enabling people with a range of disabilities to enjoy the water and connect in their community space, thanks to a 3 year funding award from the National Lottery Community Fund.
  • Reducing Reoffending Rates – providing land rowing fitness training and coaching development for serving or recently released prisoners, to support a pathway towards rehabilitation and employment.
  • Environmental Stewardship – weekly water-quality testing and river clean-ups on the Tideway.

Their unique charity + commercial model creates a virtuous circle of sport and social good. They have a thriving adult and junior membership club that supports their charitable programmes, both financially and through volunteering – reaching over 2,000 participants per year. And they have become a centre of excellence for corporate team-building sessions, hosting companies ranging from TikTok to Sweaty Betty, Colt Telecom and Salesforce. All of these factors make Fulham Reach a special community to be part of.

Their work has been recognised in numerous recent awards: London Sport Environmental Sustainability Award (2026); World Rowing ‘Programme of the Year’ (2024); UK Community Sports Club of the Year, Community Sport and Recreation Awards (2024); Top 100 Great Places to Work: Women, Wellbeing & Third Sector (2026).

About the Role

The next CEO will lead the organisation through an exciting new phase, with opportunities to:

  • Shape and deliver the organisation’s strategy and long-term vision
  • Build on FRBC’s strong social impact and expand its reach
  • Strengthen income generation, partnerships and fundraising
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team
  • Work closely with the Board, funders, British Rowing and a wide range of stakeholders
  • Develop new opportunities across youth development, accessible rowing, reducing reoffending and environmental stewardship

They are looking for an ambitious, values-led leader with strong strategic, commercial and operational capability. Previous CEO experience is welcomed but not essential; what matters is the ability to lead, grow and develop a complex organisation — and a genuine passion for rowing and the role sport can play in creating opportunity and strengthening communities.
