Overview

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will help deliver complex programmes by coordinating activities, gathering and prioritising requirements, and supporting governance and reporting. You will work closely with project managers, stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment with business objectives. The role is mostly remote with occasional travel to Plymouth, and requires security vetting. You’ll apply requirements management methods and MoSCoW prioritisation to keep delivery on track and transparent.

Responsibilities

  • Assist planning, coordination and delivery of project activities
  • Gather, analyse and trace requirements throughout the lifecycle
  • Prioritise requirements using MoSCoW and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Support DOORS-based requirements management and governance packs
  • Maintain documentation, action logs and status reports
  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings and project reviews
  • Monitor progress, risks, issues, dependencies and actions; escalate as needed
  • Support project planning, scheduling and resource coordination
  • Ensure alignment of requirements with business objectives and deliverables
  • Contribute to project reporting and stakeholder updates
  • Foster clear communication between business, technical and delivery teams

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in an Assistant Project Manager or equivalent
  • Strong requirements management experience
  • Experience using DOORS or similar tools
  • Experience applying MoSCoW prioritisation
  • Understanding of project delivery methodologies and governance frameworks
  • Experience documenting, reporting and managing stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
