Overview
In this role you will strengthen electronics for downhole, high-reliability environments, ensuring systems keep working under extreme conditions. You will join the Aberdeen Electronics R&D team to investigate failures, qualify components, and drive improvements that reduce risk. You’ll collaborate across engineering, production and quality to resolve reliability challenges and maintain robust documentation. This position offers hands-on testing, close teamwork, and opportunities to shape long-lasting, safe electronic solutions in a demanding industry.

Responsibilities
- Investigate product and component failures and translate findings into improvements
- Qualify electronic components for high-reliability, high-temperature use
- Identify obsolescence and supply chain risks before they impact operations
- Support PCB manufacturing improvements via hands-on testing of electronics and materials
- Collaborate with engineering, production and quality to solve reliability challenges
- Build and maintain technical documentation to keep risk visible and managed
Key requirements
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
- Background in electronic design or test
- Sharp analytical thinking and problem-solving
- Clear communication for technical reporting and cross-team influence
- Experience with failure analysis, accelerated life testing, or high-temperature electronics
- Knowledge of component packaging, PCB manufacturing or database tools
- Willingness to travel occasionally
