Overview
As Technical Services Manager, you will lead engineering services across the contract, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance. You will set technical directions, drive asset performance, and support operational delivery while strengthening client relationships. You will govern engineering standards, support critical incidents, and steer continuous improvement and innovation. This role sits at the intersection of technical excellence and client service, shaping outcomes across multi-site facilities. You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure resilient building operations and statutory compliance, delivering measurable impact for the client and organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across the building, delivering hard services in line with contractual and statutory requirements
- Act as primary technical advisor to operational teams, clients, and senior stakeholders
- Develop and implement engineering strategies to improve asset performance and building resilience
- Drive best practice, sustainability, and continuous improvement across sites
- Ensure statutory compliance and governance; oversee SSOW, Permit to Work, and engineering procedures
- Support and audit risk registers, audits, and remedial plans; monitor critical environment and business continuity
- Support Account Managers and Engineering Managers to deliver service excellence
- Lead mobilisation for new contracts and support asset replacement/upgrades and energy initiatives
- Assist with bids and technical solutions for new business opportunities
- Build and maintain client relationships; present performance, compliance updates, and improvements
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineering teams; promote safety and professional development
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and competency assessments of engineering personnel
Key requirements
- Significant leadership experience in Technical Services/Engineering management within facilities management
- Strong technical background in Mechanical or Electrical Building Services Engineering
- Solid understanding of critical building services infrastructure
- Knowledge of statutory compliance, health and safety legislation, and engineering governance
- Experience managing engineering teams across multiple sites or contracts
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience
- Ability to analyse technical data and develop practical engineering solutions
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in CAFM systems and engineering reporting tools
