Project Sustainability Lead

Overview

As Project Sustainability Lead you will guide sustainability objectives on major construction projects, ensuring environmental compliance and best practice. You’ll collaborate with clients, consultants and operations to embed sustainability across the project lifecycle. You’ll drive certifications and reporting, supporting ESG goals and ongoing improvement. This role offers exposure to high-profile projects and a path to grow within a growing sustainability team.

Responsibilities

• Act as the sustainability lead for assigned construction projects
• Provide technical advice on environmental compliance and sustainable construction practices
• Support the delivery of project sustainability strategies and business ESG objectives
• Carry out regular site inspections and environmental audits
• Prepare and maintain environmental documentation (CEMPs, Pollution Incident Response Plans)
• Support projects in achieving environmental certifications (BREEAM, LEED)
• Monitor project sustainability performance and report to project teams
• Engage with clients, consultants and supply chain to meet sustainability requirements
• Support environmental planning conditions and project compliance obligations
• Promote continuous improvement and sustainability best practice across multiple projects

Key requirements

• Experience in a Sustainability, Environmental or ESG role in the construction industry
• Knowledge of environmental legislation and sustainable construction practices
• Experience supporting projects through environmental certification schemes (BREEAM, LEED, WELL)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental, Sustainability or a related discipline
• Full UK Driving Licence
