In this Senior Protection & Control Design Engineer role, you will design HV/EHV protection and control systems for substations, delivering engineering deliverables and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. You will ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards and client specifications while supporting project execution and commissioning. Responsibilities
- Prepare Protection & Control designs for HV/EHV substations (11kV–400kV or above)
- Develop Protection SLDs, AC/DC Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Terminal Plans, Cable Schedules, and Interconnection Diagrams
- Design Protection Relay Panels, Control Panels, Annunciation Panels, Metering Panels, and RTU/SCADA interfaces
- Prepare Protection Relay Settings philosophy and coordinate with system studies
- Perform protection coordination and review relay configurations
- Prepare engineering calculations including cable sizing, voltage drop, and battery sizing
- Coordinate with Civil, Primary, Telecom, and SCADA teams
- Review vendor drawings for compliance with project specs
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and issue resolution
- Ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, National Grid, and client-specific standards
- Support project execution by meeting quality, safety, and schedule requirements
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- HV/EHV Substation Protection & Control design experience
- Knowledge of protection schemes for Transmission and Distribution substations
- Experience with protection relays from Siemens, GE, ABB/Hitachi Energy, Schneider Electric, or SEL
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- CDAE qualification is highly desirable
- Knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation automation systems
- Familiarity with SCADA, RTU, SAS, and communication protocols
- Ability to independently deliver complete Protection & Control engineering packages
- Experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments
