Overview

In this role you will support safe, compliant operations across BrewDog sites, working closely with the Health & Safety Manager and operations teams. You will be hands-on on the floor, driving safety culture, conducting inspections, and guiding risk assessments and training. The position may be based at Hop Hub in Motherwell, with travel to Ellon as needed. You’ll help roll out safety programs and ensure adherence to legislation while contributing to a sustainable brewing future.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site health and safety support across operations
  • Conduct inspections and audits to identify hazards and improvement opportunities
  • Develop and review risk assessments, SSOW, and method statements
  • Monitor PPE, guards, signage, and emergency equipment maintenance
  • Support contractor management and permit-to-work systems
  • Record and investigate accidents and near misses; support root cause analysis
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training (COSHH, manual handling, machinery safety)
  • Maintain compliance with H&S legislation (PUWER, COSHH, RIDDOR) and internal policies
  • Maintain safety documentation, records, and training matrices
  • Collaborate with operations to embed safety into daily work; assist in rolling out company-wide safety programs
  • Liaise with external bodies and contractors; promote a positive safety culture across departments
  • Attend trainings and participate in crew reviews to meet role requirements
  • Undertake other duties within scope to support business operations

Key requirements

  • Recognised qualification in Health & Safety (NEBOSH, IOSH)
  • Experience in hands-on health and safety roles, preferably in manufacturing, food & beverage, or brewing environments
  • Brewing or food production experience
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and practical application
  • Confident in inspections, investigations, and delivering training
  • First Aid trained
  • Excellent communication skills; strong IT and record-keeping abilities
  • Experience with accident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Ability to coach and mentor teams on health & safety
  • Approachable and team-focused
  • Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive attitude
