Overview
In this role you will lead civil and structural design delivery for rail projects, shaping practical engineering solutions for bridges, foundations, and stations. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure technical outputs meet project and industry standards, guiding junior engineers and resolving design issues. The position emphasizes risk-aware design and adherence to codes, within Arcadis’ sustainable-offering framework. Responsibilities
- Lead civil and structural design packages for rail infrastructure projects
- Prepare, review and verify calculations, drawings, and technical deliverables
- Develop engineering solutions for bridges, foundations, retaining structures, stations and related rail assets
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities and ensure design integration
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians
- Support design reviews and technical assurance activities
- Identify and manage design risks per project requirements and standards
- Ensure deliverables comply with Arcadis requirements and national codes
Key requirements
- BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline
- Relevant civil or structural design experience within rail or major infrastructure projects
- Experience preparing and checking engineering calculations, drawings and technical reports
- Knowledge of structural design principles, codes, standards and risk management
- Experience with structural analysis/design software is advantageous
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status desirable
