Overview

In this Mechanical Technical Director role in WSP’s Mission Critical Facilities team, you lead design and delivery for data centre projects, ensuring efficient, reliable and scalable operations. You’ll steer a team of engineers, drive strategic initiatives, and collaborate with industry leaders to shape DC technology. You’ll optimise energy use, strengthen security, and integrate emerging solutions, building a strong professional network. Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of mechanical engineers and technicians
  • Build and maintain client relationships and the WSP brand in the UK and EMEA
  • Manage budgets and forecast for the team, driving performance improvements
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives within the team and across the business
  • Share knowledge and technical skills across the global WSP network
  • Drive work-winning, secure opportunities, and oversee project pipelines and financials
  • Oversee team performance, including work pipeline, finance, and operations
  • Act as the client’s primary point of contact and maintain excellent client care
  • Collaborate with clients, developers, contractors and architects to position WSP as the engineer of choice
  • Support business development by identifying additional commissions and opportunities

Key requirements

  • Chartership through CIBSE/IET/IMechE Engineering Council or willingness to work towards it
  • Mechanical Engineering expertise across HVAC, cooling, fuel systems, controls, and energy management
  • Proven leadership and team management ability
  • Strategic vision to align mechanical initiatives with business goals
  • Project management skills for planning, budgets, timelines, and quality
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Adaptability to evolving technologies and industry standards
