Overview

As a Solicitor in Weightmans’ Healthcare team, you will manage complex clinical negligence claims and contribute to the team’s growth in healthcare law. You will work with a cross-disciplinary group to deliver high-quality outcomes for defendants while developing junior lawyers and leading client-facing initiatives. The role blends case management with business development and requires a proactive, flexible approach. Your work will support NHS-related cases and uphold Weightmans’ values in a dynamic, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage litigated and pre-litigated clinical negligence caseload
  • Conduct investigations to support repudiation or settlement of claims
  • Liaise with claimants, clients, solicitors, counsel and experts
  • Instruct and obtain documents from experts
  • Support BD/Ops activities as part of PA duties
  • Complete MI procedures and adhere to client protocols
  • Achieve financial and chargeable targets and meet deadlines
  • Lead and contribute to client-facing and BD initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with policies and Weightmans’ values
  • Perform other duties within the wider remit of the role

Key requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 5 years PQE
  • Flexible approach to varied tasks
  • Genuine interest in healthcare sector
  • Knowledge of clinical negligence
  • Excellent technical ability and CPR knowledge
