Overview

In this role, you support the Head of Pricing, UK, and the Actuarial function to design and sustain a robust UK Pricing governance and controls framework. You will align governance with strategic pricing objectives, regulatory expectations, and performance metrics, ensuring pragmatic, value-driven practices. You’ll work across Actuarial, Pricing, and senior leadership to drive governance improvements, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. This position offers impact by shaping pricing governance that enables compliant, customer-focused outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Technical performance support for pricing initiatives and model development
  • Business planning and underwriter risk parameterisation
  • Portfolio metrics, analysis, and governance reporting
  • Maintain governance, controls, and pricing policies; liaise with regulators
  • Lead and support pricing governance across Sompo, interfacing with senior leadership
  • People management and development within the UK Pricing team
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to enhance governance and value delivery

Key requirements

  • BSc in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or similar
  • Qualified Actuary (FIA or equivalent) or part-qualified with extensive experience
  • Experience in individual case pricing and pricing models in general insurance
  • Strong knowledge of pricing performance metrics and governance applications
  • Regulatory awareness related to case pricing, planning and performance
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive governance improvements
  • Excellent communication and report writing
  • Influence and stakeholder management
  • Collaborative and proactive team leadership
  • Knowledge of actuarial techniques and pricing analytics
  • MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word
  • Ability to develop knowledge of relevant programming languages
