As a Senior Cost Manager/Project Quantity Surveyor in our Birmingham construction projects division, you will lead cost planning, analysis and forecasting to safeguard project profitability. You’ll drive procurement, value engineering and robust cost control while collaborating with project teams to deliver cost-effective, high-quality outcomes. You will mentor junior staff and provide expert commercial guidance to clients, helping transform complex projects into successful results. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed cost plans and budgets for complex construction projects
• Conduct cost analyses and provide accurate forecasts across project lifecycles
• Prepare and analyse bills of quantities, tender documents, and contract agreements
• Manage procurement process including vendor selection and contract negotiation
• Perform value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality
• Monitor and report on project financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure cost-effective delivery
• Provide expert advice on contractual and commercial matters to internal teams and clients
• Implement and maintain robust cost control systems and procedures
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to department growth

Key requirements

• Degree qualified and MRICS qualified (or working towards)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Inquisitive and problem-solving skill base
• Demonstrable cost management experience working at a consultancy
