Overview
As Senior Consultant, you will provide expert development management advice for the Strategic Road Network, reviewing planning documents and leading technical assessments. You’ll mentor junior staff, manage client relationships, and help deliver high-quality outputs on time and within budget. The role blends stakeholder engagement with rigorous transport planning review work across UK projects, contributing to safer, better-connected transport infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Review planning application documentation affecting the Strategic Road Network
- Contribute to a range of planning consultations and produce high-quality technical reviews
- Mentor junior staff and leverage the technical team’s expertise
- Build and maintain client relationships and manage reviews/tasks owner
- Support task delivery, deadlines, workload management, and budget monitoring
- Review transport planning documentation to ensure quality, budget, and timeline alignment
Key requirements
- Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Spatial/Urban Planning, or related field
- Membership of a professional body such as CIHT, TPS, or CILT (preferred)
- Excellent teamwork, written and interpersonal skills
- Awareness of UK transport planning principles, regulations, and policies
- Experience mentoring junior staff
- Experience in transport modelling (local and strategic)
- Proficiency in transport planning tools and MS Word/Excel
- Strong communication and negotiation
