Senior Property Underwriter

Overview

As a Senior Property Underwriter, you will identify and secure profitable new property business within a UK portfolio, working with a seasoned team to balance technical risk with commercial decisions. You’ll nurture broker relationships, actively generate opportunities, and help shape the underwriting strategy for sustained growth. This role combines independent initiative with cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic, ambitious environment. You will help scale the Property book while delivering competitive, disciplined underwriting outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business Property risks with a balance of technical assessment and commercial decision-making
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers to grow the portfolio
• Proactively generate new business through broker engagement, pipeline management and market development
• Negotiate terms, pricing and coverage to deliver competitive solutions while maintaining underwriting discipline
• Collaborate with underwriting, distribution and specialist teams to maximise opportunities
• Support the wider underwriting strategy and profitable growth of the Property portfolio

Key requirements

• Experience underwriting large and complex commercial Property risks in the UK
• Proven ability to develop broker relationships and convert opportunities
• Strong technical underwriting skills including risk selection, pricing and portfolio profitability
• Proactive, commercially driven approach with negotiation confidence
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
