Overview
In this role you will support Nuclear New Build projects, focusing on Nuclear Island structures and coordinating across international teams to deliver compliant, safe, and high-quality structural designs. You will lead analysis, design, and technical assurance while aligning with stringent safety and project standards in a regulated environment. The position offers impact across flagship programmes like HPC and SZC, with opportunities to shape delivery practices and digital tooling adoption. You will work closely with BIM/CAD teams, project managers, and clients to drive successful construction transitions. Responsibilities
- EPR design: design and analyse reinforced-concrete and structural steel elements for nuclear power plant buildings
- Finite Element Modeling: prepare and check complex calculations and FE models using ANSYS APDL or equivalent
- Load assessments: evaluate structural integrity against seismic, dynamic, environmental, and sequencing loads
- Code compliance: apply Eurocodes and ETC-C and other project standards
- Project governance: manage scope, schedule, quality, and budgets for workstreams
- Traceable records: draft and review design reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications with design history
- Technical assurance: participate in design reviews and formal approvals
- Interface coordination: align multidisciplinary teams and provide technical direction
- Stakeholder collaboration: interface with engineering leads, BIM/CAD teams, PMs, clients, and site contractors
- Technical communication: present complex topics to specialist and non-specialist audiences
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Substantial reinforced-concrete design experience and understanding of structural behavior
- Practical FEA experience using ANSYS APDL or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Eurocodes and standard structural specifications
- Proven ability to deliver design outputs through to construction transition
