Overview
In this role, you will help drive the performance and governance of National Grid’s Asset Management function. You’ll work with senior leaders to turn insights into strategic priorities, capability development and clear action plans. You’ll manage governance, reporting, and horizon scanning to keep the team ahead of regulatory and business developments. This is an impact role with high visibility, shaping how asset management delivers value across the organisation. You will partner with cross-functional teams to build capability and sustain a culture of performance and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Asset Management leadership team’s performance rhythm to ensure timely discussions and decisions
- Own the monthly Asset Management Performance Pack, integrating operational, financial, capability and risk insights for executives
- Support governance, decision-making, action tracking and strategic delivery for the Director and Senior Leadership Team
- Develop and maintain the department’s capability framework to identify future skills and training needs
- Build strong relationships across Finance, HR, Communications, Regulation, Digital and operations to ensure alignment
- Own the Asset Management Risk & Opportunity Log and track actions through to completion
- Capture and reflect internal customer voices in departmental priorities
- Develop and deliver internal communications connecting colleagues to strategy and progress
- Monitor regulatory and organisational developments to provide forward-looking insight
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to embed performance, accountability and learning
Key requirements
- Experience in business management, performance, governance, PMO, or similar roles in large, complex organisations
- Strong track record supporting senior leadership with performance management and governance
- Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence at all levels
- Strong communication skills with ability to translate complex information into actionable insights
- Experience producing performance reporting, dashboards or executive MI
- Structured, proactive approach to identifying issues, opportunities and trends
- Ability to work across disciplines including people, performance, risk, communications and business planning
- Understanding of organisational capability, workforce planning or skills development is advantageous
- Experience with financial performance information is beneficial but not required
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience
- Professional qualifications in Business Management, Project Management, CIPD, APM or similar are advantageous but not essential
