Portfolio & Operations Accountant – Investment Management

Overview

In this role you will support the finance and operations of a boutique investment manager, bridging portfolio accounting, reporting and treasury. You will work closely with the Head of Finance & Operations to deliver across management accounts, statutory statements, performance reporting, and commercial projects. The role offers broad, hands-on exposure and scope to drive improvements in controls and processes. This is an opportunity to transition from practice into industry in a small, high-calibre team with significant growth potential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare management accounts and statutory financial statements for UK and Jersey entities
• Support quarterly portfolio performance reporting
• Review and analyse investment and portfolio data
• Perform investment and portfolio reconciliations
• Support portfolio monitoring and asset allocation analysis
• Treasury management including liquidity oversight, cash reporting and FX
• Bookkeeping, cash management, billing and accounts payable
• Prepare VAT returns and assist with other tax requirements
• Assist with budgets and financial planning
• Prepare information for quarterly Board reporting
• Collaborate with portfolio administrators and external providers
• Improve financial controls, procedures and reporting processes
• Support systems implementation, automation and wider business improvement projects
• Undertake ad hoc analytical and commercial projects

Key requirements

• ACA or ACCA qualified
• Experience with investment management, asset management, funds or financial services clients
• Capable of preparing accounts and financial statements (not only audit)
• Strong technical grounding in financial and management accounting
• Interest in investments and developing understanding across asset classes
• Advanced Excel and ability to handle large volumes of financial data
• Commercial, analytical mindset, proactive and ownership-driven
• Comfort working across a broad remit with shifting priorities
