Overview
In this role you drive electrical design across a range of energy projects, from feasibility to commissioning, leading the electrical aspects of multidisciplinary teams. You’ll shape solutions for HV/EHV projects and ensure compliance with UK requirements, while mentoring engineers and collaborating with civil and mechanical teams. The position offers exposure to diverse sectors such as wind, solar, interconnectors, and substations, with a strong emphasis on sustainable energy. Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design of projects including generators, control/instrumentation systems, protection, substations and transmission lines
- Perform design, model and analysis of electrical/electronic systems for feasibility and standards compliance
- Produce and interpret design drawings and documents (single line diagrams, block cable diagrams, load schedules, specifications, reports)
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical and other engineering disciplines for integrated designs
- Contribute to feasibility studies, concept design, construction and commissioning phases
- Communicate technical concepts to clients and participate in workshops
- Support the company values of client focus, collaborative design and service excellence
Key requirements
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET
- Experience in the energy sector preferred; other sectors acceptable
- Experience producing/interpreting design drawings and documents at varying detail levels
