Overview

In this Security Manager role within Tesco’s SOC, you lead transformation of cyber defence capabilities for a large retail ecosystem. You will empower a high-performing analytics team and align security outcomes with business priorities, driving resilience and continuous change across people, processes, and technology. You’ll enable responsible AI adoption to deliver a modern, customer-first security posture, reporting into the SOC Manager as part of the Investigation & Incident Response function. This is a chance to shape how Tesco defends customers at scale through innovative, outcome-driven security practices.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the SOC transformation roadmap, scoping and embedding new capabilities (process, tooling, AI, operating models) without impacting performance
  • Maintain high-performing SOC operations with strong detection, response, and reliable service
  • Champion Applied AI and automation to streamline workflows and faster investigations
  • Lead, mentor and grow a diverse security team with inclusive, engineering-led practices
  • Act as senior interface between Cyber Defence, Technology and Business, communicating risk and guiding priorities
  • Embed a product and service mindset within the SOC, ensuring changes are measurable and customer-aligned

Key requirements

  • Experience leading technical teams with coaching and performance development
  • Ability to define and execute strategic roadmaps aligned to business objectives
  • Strong communication and influencing skills for senior stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of threat detection and incident response in SOC
  • Change leadership to integrate new tools/processes while maintaining service continuity
  • Exposure to SOC tooling such as Zendesk and xMatters and related incident management
  • Foundational understanding of AI and automation applications in cyber defence
  • Experience in hiring and building technical talent
