Overview
You will help lead the delivery of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, working through cross‑sector partnerships to embed nature recovery across the county. You will represent the authority and LNRS at committees, shaping strategies, and guiding programmes that meet statutory requirements. You’ll provide expert advice, coordinate stakeholder engagement, and oversee governance and reporting to keep delivery on track. This role offers the chance to influence policy, collaborate with farmers, councils, and environmental partners, and drive tangible nature outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Act as the LNRS expert for policy and practice and keep knowledge up to date
- Represent the authority at committees and bodies, presenting information
- Incorporate environmental perspectives into strategies and lead on related plans
- Provide expert advice and practical support to public authorities, partnerships, and the voluntary/private sectors
- Lead responses to statutory and non-statutory nature recovery consultations
- Support development and delivery of LNRS projects, defining accountability and program arrangements
- Organise and service LNRS Partnership meetings, produce reports for steering/delivery groups
- Support governance processes to update LNRS within required timeframes and advise Supporting Authorities
- Coordinate internal and external collaboration to deliver the LNRS
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement to ensure broad, deep, ongoing involvement
Key requirements
- Degree level qualification in a relevant environmental discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience in cultivating and sustaining partnerships, stakeholder engagement and consultation
- Experience in developing, delivering and monitoring strategy/plans
- Experience in developing funding bids, securing external finance, and procurement procedures
- Significant knowledge/experience of project/programme management and delivery
- Knowledge/experience of nature conservation and nature recovery policy and practice
- Strong communication and relationship-building
