Temporary Works Supervisor

Role Overview

• Manage temporary works on live gas and asset health upgrade sites.

• Ensure full compliance with BS 5975 standards.

• Coordinate with the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC).

• Inspect and sign off temporary works before use.

Key Responsibilities

• Check design briefs and risk assessments.

• Issue permits for excavation, shoring, and crane lifts.

• Brief site teams on temporary works procedures.

• Stop unsafe work immediately if risks arise.

• Maintain the site temporary works register.

Requirements

• Valid SMSTS or SSSTS card.

• CITB Temporary Works Supervisor course certificate.

• Experience in gas networks, utilities, or heavy civils.

• Strong knowledge of soil stability, trench support, and scaffolding.
