Overview

As Technical Underwriter in HSB’s Partnerships team, you will act as the technical expert ensuring products and documentation are accurate, compliant and fit for purpose. You will collaborate across underwriting, legal, claims, product and business development to shape policy wordings, agreements and reinsurance treaties. You’ll support new product development and provide technical guidance throughout the partnership lifecycle. Your work helps deliver innovative, compliant insurance propositions for strategic partners, with ongoing professional development within Munich Re Group.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and maintain policy wordings, delegated authority agreements, appointed representative agreements and reinsurance treaties
  • Support new product development and provide technical guidance and training
  • Ensure documents meet legal, regulatory and underwriting standards throughout the partnership lifecycle
  • Collaborate with underwriting, legal, claims, product and business development teams
  • Contribute to governance and underwriting standards improvements
  • Assist in shaping innovative insurance solutions for strategic partnerships

Key requirements

  • Experience in commercial or consumer insurance underwriting or similar technical role
  • Experience drafting or reviewing insurance documentation or delegated authority agreements
  • Understanding of insurance regulation and underwriting governance
  • Experience with insurers, MGAs, affinity partners or delegated authority arrangements advantageous
  • Degree qualified, or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • ACII qualification (desirable)

  • Strong communication and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
