Overview

As In-House Legal Counsel for Automotive Europe, you will provide practical, commercially focused legal guidance across multiple European markets, starting with the UK automotive sector. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable growth while managing legal and regulatory risk, from warranty and service contracts to product distribution. You will advise on commercial agreements and regulatory changes, coordinating with external counsel when needed. This role offers the chance to shape automotive offerings across Europe within a supportive, values-driven culture.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and distribution arrangements
  • Advise on warranty, insurance and service contract products and intermediary arrangements
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess business impact
  • Support creation and rollout of new products, services and distribution models
  • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Risk, Sales, Product, Operations and Supply Chain
  • Collaborate with external counsel for specialised local advice
  • Provide clear, risk-aware legal recommendations to enable growth across Europe
  • Support strategic projects across multiple European markets

Key requirements

  • Qualified solicitor, lawyer or equivalent with permission to practise in England and Wales
  • Experience advising on commercial contracts and business-facing legal matters in law firms or in-house environments
  • Ability to explain legal concepts clearly and provide pragmatic recommendations
  • Strong stakeholder management and experience working with geographically dispersed teams
  • Curiosity and adaptability in a regulated, fast-evolving environment
  • Knowledge of automotive, warranty, insurance or service contract products is helpful but not essential
