Overview

You manage day-to-day programme finance for contracted UK/European programmes and drive the build of a regional finance capability. You own forecasting, EAC maintenance, variance analysis, and reporting, while establishing KPIs and a monthly close cadence across the UK, Europe, and Middle East. You partner with cross-functional teams and shape finance operations in a fast-growing defence tech company. This is a hands-on, ownership-driven build role with wide scope and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day programme finance across contracted programmes including EAC maintenance, actuals analysis, variance narrative, and monthly reporting
  • Serve as a finance business partner to cross-functional programme teams
  • Build and maintain programme forecast models and support the divisional forecast cycle
  • Support UK-specific IRAD programmes
  • Build and operate regional internal management P&L reporting from scratch for UK, Europe, and the Middle East
  • Establish the monthly close and reporting timetable and define regional KPIs
  • Prepare the first-draft performance narrative (actuals, risks, opportunities, actions) with P&L and balance sheet scenarios
  • Own data pulls from Foundry and Oracle EPM; implement controls and automation for repeatable reporting
  • Reconcile management reporting with the statutory ledger and document processes and controls
  • Interface with international accounting managers on tax and audit requirements
  • Support the UK leadership team and Global Defence & Growth Operations

Key requirements

  • ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent chartered)
  • 3+ years post-qualified experience across a broad range of finance disciplines
  • Programme finance experience including PoC revenue recognition and EACs
  • Experience setting up finance processes from scratch or redesigning how things are done
  • Advanced Excel and Power Query skills
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, ideally Oracle
  • Strong PowerPoint skills for executive-level reporting
  • Comfortable with AI tools and automation
  • SC clearance eligible (or willing to obtain)
