Environmental Manager RAIL

Overview

In this role you will lead environmental performance across multiple rail and civil sites, driving ISO 14001 compliance and sustainability improvements. You will partner with project teams and senior management to embed environmental management at both project and business levels. You’ll develop site environmental plans, manage training, and ensure accurate environmental reporting and risk assessment. This is a visible, influential position that shapes sustainability practices within a dynamic rail portfolio by providing expert guidance and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Ensure ISO 14001 requirements are delivered for designated projects
• Support environmental management at business level and drive site-level delivery
• Oversee environmental training across designated projects
• Review monthly sustainability reports for complete and accurate environmental components
• Write and approve site environmental management plans including waste management and risk registers
• Identify aspects of activities impacting the environment
• Advise top management on resources requirements and availability
• Identify training needs for staff, operatives, suppliers and subcontractors
• Led internal communications and environmental updates/alerts

Key requirements

• Experienced Environmental Manager in Rail/Civil Engineering
• Knowledge of Environmental Assessment Methods
• Chartered environmentalist
• Communicates professionally with client organisations
• Well-versed in Environmental legislation and best practices
• Qualified in relevant discipline (ESSENTIAL)
• Experienced ISO 14001 Auditor (ESSENTIAL)
