Overview
In this role you will partner with senior stakeholders across Logistics, Transformation and Finance to evaluate major investments and build robust business cases that deliver sustainable value. You will shape decisions on warehouse automation, transport networks and future supply chain operating models as part of M&S’ broad transformation. You’ll develop and maintain financial models, analyze capex, OPEX, cash flow and benefits, and support strategic capital prioritisation. This is a high-impact role in a fast-moving, cross‑functional environment that values data-driven insights and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate financial viability of major supply chain investments (warehousing, automation, technology, transport, returns, network design)
- Build and maintain robust financial models and business cases (capex, opex, cash flow, benefits)
- Deliver investment appraisal analyses (NPV, IRR, payback, sensitivity) to support decision-making
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to challenge costs, benefits, risks and timelines
- Track delivery of project benefits and drive continuous improvement to ensure measurable financial outcomes
Key requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong commercial acumen and interest in strategic investment and transformation
- Experience building financial models and translating analysis into actionable recommendations
- Comfort working with large datasets and presenting complex results
- Ability to influence and challenge stakeholders across functions
- Experience in supply chain, logistics, retail, FMCG, infrastructure or other capital-intensive environments
