Overview
As a shift worker at LyondellBasell Warrington, you will maintain and repair plant assets to OEM standards, supporting production availability and safety. You contribute to a safe, organized maintenance environment and drive continuous improvement in plant utilities. You will troubleshoot, diagnose faults, and plan work to meet KPIs, collaborating with the engineering team and contractors. This role offers hands-on impact on reliability, safety, and efficiency within a global chemicals context. Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair plant, infrastructure, and assets to OEM standards to support production plans
- Uphold safety standards and HSE regulations; foster a safe working environment
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance; contribute to continuous improvement
- Keep maintenance workshop and stores orderly and lean
- Respond to breakdowns promptly; diagnose faults and root causes
- Plan and prioritize workloads to achieve KPI targets; participate in capex projects
- Develop team skills, including apprentices, and support engineering effectiveness
- Log all work and ensure thorough handover communications between shifts
- Identify and order parts; coordinate with Maintenance Assistant to meet delivery dates
- Participate in safety initiatives (Operation Clean Sweep, Global Safety Day, Global Care Day) and comply with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001
- Support documentation, risk assessments, PTW, and contractor management
Key requirements
- Electrical or Mechanical Apprenticeship (time served)
- NVQ level 3 Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (HNC or above desirable)
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar plant environment
- Strong electrical and mechanical fitting skills; installation experience; 18th Edition desirable
- Experience in automated extrusion and compounding environments desired but not essential
- PC skills; SAP knowledge; good communication across organization
- Good H&S understanding including risk assessments, PTW, contractor management
- Ability to diagnose complex maintenance problems under time pressure; time management and prioritization skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Ability to read circuit diagrams; fault finding with PLCs, inverters, DC drives
