Overview

As Chief Compliance Officer for RHUK, you lead the UK risk and compliance program in a fast-moving fintech environment. You act as the second line of defense, shaping the firm’s regulatory stance and relationship with the FCA and other authorities. You’ll own Consumer Duty oversight, AML/financial crime controls, and the regulatory monitoring plan, partnering with senior management to navigate evolving regulation. This role blends regulatory expertise, strategic leadership, and hands-on problem solving to protect customers and drive responsible growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the firm’s compliance framework in line with FCA rules and applicable law
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess impact on the business
  • Develop and implement the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan and drive remediation
  • Provide practical regulatory advice to senior management on investments and crypto products
  • Act as primary contact for the FCA and other regulators
  • Own Consumer Duty oversight
  • Oversee financial crime and AML frameworks with the MLRO
  • Identify and assess risks with the 1st line of defence
  • Review financial promotions, website content, and marketing communications for FCA compliance
  • Chair the Risk & Compliance Committee
  • Provide training, guidance, and investigations to support the UK Risk & Compliance team
  • Set and promote the firm’s values, risk culture, and risk appetite at Board level

Key requirements

  • Based in the United Kingdom
  • Degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years regulatory compliance experience within an FCA-regulated firm
  • Approval as, or ability to obtain, FCA SMF16
  • Strong working knowledge of FCA Handbook, Consumer Duty, UK Money Laundering Regulations and SM&CR
  • Experience managing FCA Supervisory and Authorisations interactions and regulatory reporting
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Pragmatic and risk-based approach to compliance
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in an international team environment across large projects and cross-functional teams
