Overview

As a Maritime Engineer in Arup’s growing Maritime Team, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of coastal and marine infrastructure across Scotland and the North of England. You’ll work from concept through to construction, collaborating with structural, civil and geotechnical engineers and engaging with clients and stakeholders. The role includes design, assessment, and construction support, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and take on project responsibilities. You will help shape resilient ports, harbour developments and offshore energy projects within a multidisciplinary, values-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects from masterplanning and concept through to detailed design and construction
  • Produce and review maritime designs, calculations, reports, drawings and digital models
  • Undertake inspections, condition surveys and technical assessments
  • Develop technical details and sketches for CAD and Revit
  • Support specifications, contract documentation and project management
  • Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers

Key requirements

  • BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status (MICE, MIStructE or equivalent)
  • Experience designing and delivering maritime or related infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of Eurocodes, BS 6349 and relevant industry standards
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
  • Confident working with clients, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders
