Job Description:

We’re recruiting on behalf of an established manufacturer looking for a Sales Manager to lead the growth of its leisure marine business.

This role combines new business development, account management and commercial planning, with responsibility for growing sales across UK and export markets. You’ll work closely with customers and internal teams to develop relationships, identify opportunities and help shape the direction of the leisure marine division.

The position will suit someone with a strong technical sales background, knowledge of the leisure marine industry and a keen interest in sailing.

Reporting to the Sales Director, you’ll take responsibility for sales growth and customer relationships within the leisure marine sector. You’ll also contribute to marketing activity, product development and service improvements, ensuring the business responds to customer needs and market opportunities.

You’ll be based at the Malvern office when you’re not out visiting customers or attending exhibitions. Regular UK and international travel is required, including overnight stays, with travel expected to account for approximately 50% of your time.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop UK and export sales within the leisure marine market, working towards agreed targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying and securing new business.
  • Develop a structured customer contact and visit plan to strengthen accounts and progress opportunities.
  • Follow up quotations with customer visits, providing technical guidance and understanding customer requirements.
  • Maintain a business plan covering key accounts, target customers and the sales pipeline.
  • Work with marketing colleagues to deliver promotional activity and increase awareness within the sector.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity, identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Feed customer and market insights into product development and the division’s commercial strategy.
  • Work closely with sales operations and other internal teams to support customer service and delivery.
  • Represent the business at trade shows, exhibitions and customer meetings.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and provide weekly reports on sales activity and performance.

You’ll have technical sales experience in leisure marine, ideally including account management, business development and export sales. A keen interest in sailing, strong commercial awareness and the ability to build customer relationships are important. You’ll be organised, self-motivated and comfortable learning technical product information, with experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office. A full driving licence and willingness to travel in the UK and overseas are essential.
