Senior Support Worker / Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Care

Location: Earls Barton, Northampton, NN6

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shifts: 8am-11pm – 1 day on, 2 days off

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Support Worker/Deputy Manager to join our family‑run children’s residential home in Earls Barton. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with complex needs, providing both hands‑on care and leadership within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting a small team of Residential Support Workers to deliver high-quality care.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people to promote their welfare and independence.
  • Overseeing daily routines, activities, appointments, and individualised support plans.
  • Promoting safeguarding, dignity, and emotional wellbeing, while managing challenging behaviour with therapeutic approaches.
  • Contributing to care planning, risk assessments, and multi‑agency meetings to ensure the best outcomes for young people.
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports, and documentation to support ongoing care and compliance.
  • Supporting the smooth day‑to‑day running of the home, including household tasks and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare, or be working towards this qualification.
  • At least 2 years’ experience within a children’s residential care setting.
  • Experience supporting young people with ASC, mental health, emotional, or behavioural needs.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and childcare legislation.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Confidence and resilience to manage challenging situations.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • A clean enhanced DBS check or willingness to complete the required checks.
