Overview
In this Mechanical Engineer role, you will maintain and improve critical site infrastructure at a high-profile client location. You’ll work with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to keep HVAC, heating, water services and mechanical assets reliable and compliant. The role combines planned and reactive maintenance with fault diagnosis, supported by safe, documented processes. You will contribute to continuous improvements and support on-site projects and shutdowns. This position offers hands-on impact in a safety-focused, client-facing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform PPM and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services plant and equipment
- Service and repair HVAC systems (AHUs, FCUs, ventilation, extracts) and associated controls
- Maintain and fault diagnose commercial heating systems, boilers, pumps and related equipment
- Repair domestic and commercial plumbing systems including water distribution and sanitaryware
- Inspect and replace circulation pumps and booster sets
- Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
- Execute mechanical installations, modifications and improvements
- Monitor plant performance and identify reliability and efficiency improvements
- Support statutory inspections and ensure compliance with legislation and standards
- Maintain records in CMMS and ensure accurate maintenance documentation
- Coordinate with subcontractors and supervise works when required
- Assist broader engineering team with cross-functional maintenance
- Participate in standby and call-out arrangements and provide excellent customer service
- Identify defects and safety concerns and report through proper channels
- Support site projects, shutdowns and asset replacement programmes
Key requirements
- Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
- Experience in a commercial, industrial or facilities management environment
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical plant, plumbing and building services
- Experience maintaining pumps, motors, valves and heating systems
- Fault finding and efficient issue resolution
- Understanding of statutory compliance for mechanical building services
- Experience with Permit-to-Work and RAMS processes
- Ability to use CAFM/CMMS systems and maintain maintenance records
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team
- Full UK Driving Licence
