Overview

In this Finance Manager role, you shape the financial strategy for M&S Financial Services, partnering with Digital & Technology, Group Finance and commercial teams to deliver actionable insights and strong governance. You will lead or support finance transformation initiatives and provide commercial guidance to enable informed decision-making. The role combines rigorous FP&A, stakeholder collaboration and risk management in a fast-evolving retail-financial services unit. You’ll work across London and Manchester, influencing cross-business outcomes and the broader M&S agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Lead or support transformation initiatives within financial services
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Deliver accurate reporting, forecasting and budgeting
  • Business Partnering: Advise commercial teams and business areas to support decisions
  • Performance Management: Monitor metrics, identify risks and opportunities
  • Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to internal controls, regulatory requirements and audit standards
  • Training & Development: Upskill the finance team through training and knowledge sharing

Key requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with financial services or retail background
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-finance partners
  • Ability to build positive relationships across diverse business partners
  • Strong commercial financial acumen with ability to challenge and influence
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and in a team
