Graduate Construction Manager – Manchester

£33,000 per annum, dependent on experience Manchester Civil Engineering & Infrastructure

Are you a recent Construction Project Management graduate looking to turn your degree into hands-on experience? This is an opportunity to join an established civil engineering contractor, work alongside experienced construction professionals and build the practical skills needed to progress your career.

As a Graduate Construction Manager, you will be supported by experienced managers, engineers and quantity surveyors while gaining exposure to the planning, coordination and delivery of major earthworks and civil engineering activities.

My client is an established contractor with extensive experience delivering civil engineering, earthworks and infrastructure projects. They are looking for a Graduate Construction Manager to join their project management team in Manchester.

You will be given the opportunity to develop your technical and management knowledge in a practical environment, learning how construction activities are safely planned, coordinated, monitored and delivered.

What you will be doing

You will be working closely with experienced members of the project team, gradually taking on greater responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop.

  • Supporting project planning, coordination and day-to-day administration.
  • Learning how programmes, budgets and resources are managed throughout construction.
  • Supporting the monitoring of progress, quality and health and safety requirements.
  • Working alongside construction managers, engineers, quantity surveyors and site teams.
  • Helping coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Reviewing project information and assisting with reporting and documentation.
  • Developing practical knowledge of earthworks and civil engineering operations.
  • Spending time on site to understand how planned works translate into construction delivery.

These responsibilities reflect the practical experience commonly associated with graduate construction management roles, including planning, progress monitoring, quality, safety and multidisciplinary coordination.

What you will need

  • You should have a degree in Construction Project Management, Construction Management or a closely related discipline, together with good communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
  • You will need an interest in civil engineering and construction delivery, a willingness to learn from experienced colleagues and a full UK driving licence due to the site-based nature of the position.

Salary and benefits

The Graduate Construction Manager position offers a salary of £33,000 per annum, dependent on experience, alongside a benefits package.
