Project EngineerLocation: Kent (Full-Time On-Site, 4-Day Working Week)Contract Length: 18 MonthsSecurity Clearance: BPSS RequiredRate: Up to £38/hour PAYE or £51.89/hour UmbrellaIR35 Status: Inside IR35The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a major engineering and infrastructure programme supporting critical industrial operations. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex projects within a highly regulated environment, overseeing engineering solutions from concept through to commissioning and handover.Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and compliant engineering projects while ensuring stakeholder requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.Key Responsibilities– Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs.– Support the development of Project Execution Plans, including design, safety, and commissioning strategies.– Contribute to project optioneering and engineering decision-making.– Develop concept designs and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.– Produce and review technical specifications and engineering documentation.– Manage detailed design activities in line with engineering governance requirements.– Prepare engineering modifications and technical proposals.– Review and approve contractor documentation, including method statements and risk assessments.– Provide technical oversight of construction and installation activities.– Ensure works are delivered in accordance with design intent and quality requirements.– Approve as-built documentation and maintain configuration control.– Support commissioning, decommissioning, and operational handover activities.– Collaborate with engineers, operators, contractors, and key stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.– Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.– Participate in event investigations and root cause analysis activities.
Essential Requirements– HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 5/6 in an Engineering discipline.– Experience in a practising engineering role within an industrial environment.– Mechanical or Electrical engineering background.– Proven project engineering experience within regulated or complex engineering environments.– Strong understanding of relevant engineering standards and best practices.– Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
