Overview
In this role you will lead commercial and contractual activities across multiple projects within a growing specialist subcontractor. You will work closely with the commercial team to manage costs, reports, and client/contractor relationships, supporting project delivery from procurement to final account. The opportunity sits in Essex with a strong forward order book and a focus on high-end interiors. Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple projects
- Prepare, submit and agree interim valuations and payment applications
- Control variations, change processes and related negotiations
- Review and agree subcontractor and supplier accounts
- Prepare cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow projections
- Monitor project costs against budgets and identify commercial risks and opportunities
- Manage applications, payments and final accounts
- Negotiate variations and claims with clients and main contractors
- Review contracts, specifications and project documentation
- Support project teams with commercial and contractual advice
- Maintain accurate commercial records and report to senior management
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, main contractors, suppliers and subcontractors
- Assist with the development of junior commercial team members
Key requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor in the specialist subcontracting sector
- Strong experience in drylining, ceilings, partitions, suspended ceilings or interior fit-out
- Solid understanding of construction contracts, commercial management and subcontractor accounts
- Experience managing projects from procurement through to final account
- Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, applications, CVRs and forecasting
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Commercially driven and proactive approach
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and numerical/analytical skills
- Relevant construction/commercial qualifications are desirable, though strong industry experience is also considered
