Principal/Associate River Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead high-quality environmental engineering for nature recovery and river restoration within the UK Water Environment team. You will guide projects across planning, design, modelling and construction, delivering nature-based schemes and river rehabilitation. Expect cross-disciplinary collaboration with regulators, water companies and land managers to shape sustainable water environments. This position offers scope to influence regeneration projects at scale and advance geomorphology-based solutions.

Responsibilities

• Environmental engineering for nature recovery, restoration, re-wilding and geomorphology/hydromorphology schemes
• River and wetland restoration
• River and watercourse engineering, detailed design, CDM compliance
• Preparing designs, design safety, work schedules and specifications for contractors
• Supervision of contractors and construction works
• Project management

Key requirements

• Degree in relevant subject (e.g. civil engineering)
• Proven experience in river and waterway restoration with design standards
• Highly experienced in project management and delivery
• CDM and design safety leadership
• Excellent communication, engagement and leadership skills with multi-disciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders
