Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead the development, launch and continuous improvement of the new Thermofit Molding Value Stream at the Swindon site. You will drive manufacturing and process improvements from concept to implementation, ensuring safe, efficient, and scalable production. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safety, quality, delivery and cost benefits, while establishing robust controls and supporting equipment installation and commissioning. This role offers chance to shape a new value stream, leverage data-driven decision making and Lean principles for sustainable performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day Manufacturing Engineering support to ensure process stability and product quality
  • Lead and deliver campaigns for capacity expansion, equipment installation, process improvements, NPI, product transfers and growth initiatives
  • Manage projects from concept through procurement, installation, commissioning, validation and handover
  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify improvement opportunities and build business cases for capital investment
  • Develop and maintain robust processes and controls to ensure safe, repeatable production
  • Keep manufacturing documentation up-to-date (process specs, work instructions, BOMs, routings, PFMEAs, control plans, validation records)
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and structured problem solving
  • Investigate and resolve in-process quality issues and non-conformances with CAPA actions
  • Ensure process changes are documented per procedures, customer requirements and regulatory obligations
  • Support New Product Introduction ensuring industrialisation and production transfer
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Planning and Technical teams to meet operational targets
  • Participate in daily operational reviews to resolve issues and minimise disruption
  • Promote a strong safety culture with risk assessment and compliance with HSE requirements
  • Contribute to productivity, quality, scrap reduction, on-time delivery and OEE targets

Key requirements

  • Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/ Degree) or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering in manufacturing environments
  • Proven track record in manufacturing improvement, capital investment, capacity expansion or process industrialisation
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, validation and change control
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing data and applying structured problem solving
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Planning and Supply Chain
  • Data-driven decision making and sound engineering judgement
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems (preferably SAP)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, RCA, 8D and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Proactive and results-driven with safety, quality and regulatory awareness
  • Experience in moulding, plastics processing or similar production tech
  • Experience with machining, assembly, harness building or other discrete manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of Aerospace quality standards and Defence-regulated environments
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
  • Experience with automation, vision systems and modern manufacturing technologies
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, validation and product industrialisation processes
