General Store Manager – Small Heath

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning strategy and execution of day‑to‑day operations across Non‑Food, Online and Customer departments to maximise availability and minimise waste and shrink.
• Deliver consistent standards, drive productivity and ensure the store is ready for customers through close collaboration with the Operations Manager and department managers.
• Implement operational excellence initiatives such as improving delivery flow, stock routines and compliance.
• Co‑operate with the team to resolve problems, encouraging ownership and celebrating initiative while driving the store’s selling agenda.
• Ensure adherence to POS One best way and other value‑delivery messages for customers.
• Use data and insights to inform decisions, lead the shrink agenda and keep the store legal and compliant for customers and staff.
• Promote collaboration between departments to deliver a seamless customer experience.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Experience as General Store Manager or Operations Manager leading diverse teams in a large‑format retail environment.
• Strong operational knowledge across food and non‑food departments and a track record of achieving consistent operational excellence.
• Demonstrated improvement of availability, reduced waste and managed shrink.
• Proven record of developing large teams and managing change through leadership and building resilience.
• Experience managing complex ER cases and confidence in understanding HR policies and processes.
• Strong organisational skills and a customer‑service orientated mindset.
