About the job:

To be an active member of the School of Social Sciences Education and Social Work (SSESW) and the Centre for Evidence Based Youth Services, supporting research around child criminal exploitation, using geo-spatial techniques to enhance community safeguarding.

About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Hold an upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) or a Masters degree in Criminology, Social Science, Geography or Geo-Spatial analytics.
  • Have or be about to obtain* a PhD in Criminology, Social Science, Geography or Geo-Spatial analytics (*must be obtained within 3 months of commencement of employment).
  • Have relevant experience of engaging with statutory agencies (e.g., police, probation, education) or Communities within a research environment.
  • Have relevant research experience working on a project that relates to youth violence, community violence, conflict and/or paramilitarism and/or CCE.

This post is available for 8 months or until 31 May 2027, whichever is soonest. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
