Lead Data Engineer
An established and growing SaaS organisation with an international customer base is continuing to invest heavily in its data capabilities and is now looking to appoint an experienced Data Architect to help shape the next stage of its data strategy. This is a high impact opportunity for an experienced architect who enjoys working across data strategy, governance and architecture and wants genuine ownership over how data is structured, managed and consumed across a complex product environment.

The organisation operates across multiple products and is undertaking a significant programme of data transformation, bringing information from across the business together into a more consistent, governed and scalable data environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the wider data strategy, work closely with senior stakeholders and help establish the architectural foundations that will support analytics, customer insight and future AI initiatives.
About you
You will be an experienced Data Architect or Information Architect with 6 to 10 years’ experience working across complex SaaS, technology or product led environments. You will ideally have: * 6 to 10 years’ experience across data architecture or information architecture * Strong knowledge of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling * Experience developing enterprise data models across multiple systems or products * Strong understanding of data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality and ownership * Experience with master data management and resolving inconsistencies between source systems * Knowledge of modern Lakehouse architectures and associated technologies * Experience with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks or Dremio * Strong AWS experience, ideally across services such as S3, Glue, Athena or Lake Formation * Experience with event driven architectures, streaming or CDC technologies * Strong SQL and experience working with large scale data environments * Understanding of technologies and formats such as Kafka, Flink, Debezium, Parquet, Avro, Iceberg or Delta Lake * Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non technical stakeholders
What you’ll do
* Own and evolve the organisation’s data architecture and target state * Develop consistent data models and standards across a multi product environment * Establish data governance frameworks covering quality, ownership, metadata and lineage * Work with engineering and product teams to establish clear data contracts and standards * Help shape the organisation’s approach to master data and data integration * Define architecture patterns for batch and real time data ingestion * Contribute to the design and evolution of the company’s data platform * Establish appropriate approaches to security, access control and data privacy * Work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure the data strategy supports wider business objectives * Provide architectural leadership as the data function continues to develop and grow For further information on this opportunity, apply via the link or contact the VANRATH office for a confidential chat today.
