Senior Service Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic security systems to ensure reliable operation. You will diagnose faults, perform reactive and planned preventive maintenance, and advise clients on solutions. You’ll work with service and engineering teams to deliver excellent service while complying with safety rules and standards. You must be available for on-call rotations and mentor junior engineers as the business grows.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of security systems to ensure optimal functionality
• Diagnose faults and rectify issues quickly and efficiently
• Carry out reactive service visits to meet contracted SLAs
• Conduct planned preventive maintenance visits per contracts
• Provide client support and guidance on security systems to resolve issues
• Maintain accurate records of work, including service and maintenance reports
• Collaborate with service administration and engineering teams to deliver excellent service
• Participate in on-call standby rota as required
• Mentor and manage service engineering team as the business grows

Key requirements

• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of current industry standards and regulations (e.g., BS EN 50131, PD6662, NCP 104 and NCP 109)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Good time-management skills
• Ability to identify and solve problems independently
• Professional and positive attitude when dealing with customers
• Ability to complete detailed work reports accurately and promptly
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing security systems (CCTV, intruder alarms, access control)
• Proven experience with enterprise security systems (LenelS2, Gallagher, C-Cure)
• Experience with IP-based security systems, networks and security software applications
• Relevant industry and manufacturing training is favorable
• Favorable qualifications such as 18th edition/NVQ/City and Guilds/BTEC
