Storage Engineer

Overview

As a Storage Engineer at BAM, you will manage block, file, and object storage across on-prem and cloud, driving data lifecycle and capacity management. You will automate storage provisioning, monitor performance and efficiency, and define usage patterns while ensuring teams adhere to best practices. You’ll engineer automation for disaster recovery tests and partner with application developers to enable their success. This role offers hands-on work with a multi-petabyte environment and close collaboration with Portfolio Managers to meet business needs and scale storage capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Handle block, file and object storage platforms on-prem and in the public cloud
• Automate storage provisioning and data lifecycle
• Create robust monitors for performance, capacity and efficiency
• Define acceptable use patterns and enforce them across teams
• Engineer tools and automation for routine disaster recovery tests
• Partner with application developers to enable their success
• Participate in on-call rotation and maintenance

Key requirements

• 6+ years hands-on experience with large-scale storage environments
• Experience with software low latency environments
• Strong understanding of storage protocols across operating systems
• Comfortable writing Python
• Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning
