Overview

In this role you will act as the senior operational partner to European Portfolio Managers across Special Situations, Private Credit, Distressed, and other Alternative Credit strategies. You will oversee the lifecycle of private and originated investments, enhance controls, and drive operational excellence through cross-functional collaboration across Legal, Compliance, Finance, Treasury, and external providers. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary operational partner to European Portfolio Managers for Special Situations, Private Credit, Distressed, Opportunistic and other Alternative Credit strategies
  • Oversee private lending transactions including funding, settlement, cash management, lifecycle events, restructurings, amendments, refinancings, and exits
  • Lead operational due diligence and execution readiness for new investment strategies, financing structures, separately managed accounts, and bespoke transactions
  • Act as the escalation point for complex operational issues involving custodians, administrators, loan agents, counterparties, and outsourced service providers
  • Oversee outsourced providers performing settlements, asset setup, waterfall calculations, income processing, reconciliation, and investment accounting support
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Management, Legal, Compliance, Treasury, Tax, Product Strategy, and Finance to ensure timely transaction execution and operational support
  • Review and challenge processes to identify automation, efficiency, risk reduction, and control enhancements
  • Lead cross-functional projects on technology enhancements, operational transformation, regulatory initiatives, and platform growth
  • Oversee investment monitoring, payment tracking, drawdown execution, financing facilities, covenant reporting, and portfolio-level controls
  • Assess operational impacts of complex transactions (restructures, distressed exchanges, debt-for-equity conversions, share conversions, corporate actions)
  • Manage relationships with banks, custodians, administrators, trustees, and other external service providers
  • Support investor, client, auditor, and regulatory inquiries about operations and controls
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members to foster collaboration and continuous improvement

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional designation preferred
  • 8–12 years of experience in alternative investments and/or private credit
  • Extensive experience managing lifecycle operations for private and originated investments
  • Strong knowledge of private credit markets, leveraged finance, restructurings, and alternative investment structures
  • Experience supporting European investment strategies and working with European counterparties and providers preferred
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders across investment, operations, and control functions
  • Knowledge of financing structures (leverage facilities, subscription facilities, warehouse arrangements, bespoke lending structures, total return swaps)
  • Understanding of fund accounting and investment accounting and lifecycle event implications
  • Ability to interpret credit agreements and related legal documents for operational implications
  • Strong risk management mindset with experience enhancing operational controls
  • Experience overseeing outsourced service providers and governance frameworks
  • Advanced Excel and Bloomberg proficiency; experience with data analytics, SQL, and reporting tools preferred
