Job Description n Job Title: Linux Programme Manager Location: Sheffield 3x a week Salary/Rate: up to £470 Daily Start Date: In the next two weeks Job Type: Initial 6 month contract Inside IR35 n Company Introduction n We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our enterprise financial clients They are currently looking for a skilled Linux Programme Manager to join their team for an initial six-month contract. n Role purpose: n Lead the design, build and operational launch of a RHEL server offering on IBM LinuxONE. Work with the Mainframe, Linux, network, storage, security and service-management teams to define responsibilities and deliver a service application teams can consume. n Essential experience: n n IBM LinuxONE/IBM Z: Understanding of LPARs, IFL capacity, platform resilience and the chosen virtualisation approach-such as z/VM or KVM. n Enterprise RHEL: Familiarity with provisioning, patching, hardening, monitoring, backup, automation and production support. n Cross-platform delivery: Experience aligning Mainframe platform practices with Linux engineering and application requirements. n Infrastructure service launches: Delivery of service catalogues, support models, SLAs, disaster recovery, operational acceptance and onboarding. n Technical project management: Ownership of plans, dependencies, risks, suppliers, budgets and decisions across infrastructure teams. n n Key responsibilities n n Define the offering: Supported RHEL versions, server sizes, environments, availability tiers and target workloads. n Coordinate the architecture: Platform capacity, virtualisation, networking, storage, security and management tooling. n Confirm workload readiness: Validate application, Middleware and vendor support for Linux on IBM Z (s390x)-do not assume x86 workloads can move unchanged. n Establish the operating model: Agree who provisions, patches, monitors, backs up and supports each layer. n Lead a pilot: Prove provisioning, application compatibility, performance, recovery and support processes. n Deliver production readiness: Secure operational sign-off, publish the service catalogue and manage initial onboarding. n n If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply now with your updated CV in Microsoft Word/PDF format. n Disclaimer n Notwithstanding any guidelines given to level of experience sought, we will consider candidates from outside this range if they can demonstrate the necessary competencies. n Square One is acting as both an employment agency and an employment business, and is an equal opportunities recruitment business.
