Senior Actuarial Analyst – Individual Annuity Pricing

Overview

As a part-qualified actuary, you will influence pricing decisions for Standard Life’s Individual Annuity products. You’ll work within the Pricing team to combine actuarial insight with commercial judgement, shaping pricing strategy and customer outcomes. This role offers hands-on exposure to Lifetime and Fixed-Term Annuities, turning data into actionable commercial insight. You’ll grow technically and commercially, contributing to market competitiveness and business growth.

Responsibilities

• Analyse pricing competitiveness and market insight to balance value, competitiveness and profitability
• Produce pricing MI and convert data into clear recommendations
• Implement pricing changes in production environments with proper controls
• Support development and review of pricing bases and assumptions
• Contribute to development/enhancement of Lifetime and Fixed-Term Annuity products
• Perform pricing calculations and analyse market/data to support decisions
• Recommend actions to senior colleagues from analysis and market insight
• Identify opportunities to improve tools, processes and pricing capability
• Collaborate across the business to understand how pricing decisions support commercial goals

Key requirements

• Part-qualified actuarial status with insurance experience and commitment to full qualification
• Pricing experience within a retail flow business; individual annuity pricing is valuable
• Understanding of pricing metrics and regulatory frameworks (Solvency II and IFRS)
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with practical problem-solving approach
• Ability to translate analysis into clear insights and recommendations
• Proficiency in Excel, VBA and Power BI
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable building cross-team relationships
• Proactive and curious mindset with a drive to grow technical and commercial knowledge
