Overview

In this role you will manage cost across the full project lifecycle for major water and environment infrastructure in the Southwest, collaborating with a seasoned Buildings & Places team. You will work with key clients such as Southwest Water and the Environment Agency to drive accuracy, value, and commercial excellence. You’ll handle feasibility, cost planning, procurement, value engineering, risk and dispute resolution, and final accounts while supporting junior staff. Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end cost management from inception to completion with peers, Directors, and clients
  • Prepare feasibility estimates and cost plans with minimal supervision
  • Manage contract procurement, tender documentation, and value engineering
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and oversee risk management and dispute resolution
  • Manage post-contract cost reporting and agreement of final accounts
  • Promote professional competence and strengthen client relationships to enhance firm profile
  • Support internal team and mentors junior staff
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through performance management and technical networks

Key requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
  • MRICS accreditation (or working towards)
  • Experience in cost management/quantity surveying on large infrastructure projects
  • Good knowledge of NEC4 contracts (PSC and ECC)
  • Experience in infrastructure, particularly water/environment sectors
  • Experience in multi-organisation, collaborative teams
  • Experience in client-side or colocated/seconded environments (beneficial)
